An age old saying goes – “Eat Breakfast Like a King, Lunch Like a Prince, and Dinner Like a Pauper”. It clearly explains the importance of the first meal of the day. With the sedentary and mechanical lives that we lead these days, unfortunately, the execution of the saying goes for a toss, and it is generally the other way round. Lack of time, hectic schedules and deadlines take away the time to enjoy a hearty breakfast. Thankfully a lot of restaurants have come to understand this and are now opening doors early in the morning where you can enjoy a good breakfast to start your day. The latest entrant to the breakfast club is Sly Granny – the upmarket restaurant in Khan Market serving Granny’s favorites for breakfast! We fell in love with Sly Granny on our first visit – the opulence just impresses you at the first look.
There’s nothing better than a strong cup of coffee to start your breakfast with. There’s Ibrik on the menu – Turkish coffee – super strong and flavorful, served traditionally on a hot plate. Have it with or without the sugar and you will enjoy it equally – the subtle aroma of cinnamon alleviates the taste. Avocado Toast presents the super-food as an open sandwich on a multigrain baguette, along with goat cheese and greens – a perfect accompaniment to the strong Ibrik. The creamy mash along with the goat cheese and lemon olive oil dressing make a wonderful topping for the crisp baguette.
While you are here, don’t forget to order the House Cured Salmon Bagel Sandwich for 2 simple reasons – the bagel, which is as fresh and flavorful as it can get, and the cured salmon which is made in-house. Served with dill sour cream and salad, this is one dish that satisfied our tummies but not our greed 🙂
Pork Sausages with Potato Boulangere and the traditional American breakfast dish Eggs Benedict are your’s to order if you want a balance of carbs and proteins. We are no fans of Eggs Benedict, but we liked what we were given here – the eggs perfectly poached, the hollandaise creamy and tangy and the brioche done right to lend the texture and content to the dish. The other dish was loved by everyone on the table – creamy, cheesy, filling and the pork sausages, what’s there to not like 🙂
There are options for Muesli, the much talked about Banoffee Pancakes, Fruit Bowls and Puddings – we couldn’t try them this time. But then there’s always a next time!
