To take something as common as chai and serve it to people at the comforts of malls and offices is a commendable job Chaayos has done. Now who could have thought of enjoying a hot cup of tea, prepared to your liking, after a shopping session and in the comforts of a mall? Well Chaayos is our answer. With the rainy season glooming around the corner, Chaayos just introduced the monsoon specials and it promises to rekindle all memories of the rains, chai and more!
You can’t have a monsoon special menu without pakoras and Chaayos follows suit. Baarish Waale Pakore (169) is your wish coming true about the match made in heaven – chai-pakore – assorted pakoras with your choice of tea is the need of the weather! Bun Samosa ( 89) is the quick fix snack loved across India and makes it’s way to the menu as well. We found the bun dry, but the samosa and the chutney compensated for that 🙂

Kulhad Masala Chicken Kulcha (229) is the best thing about the monsoon menu, without doubts! The thick gravy, chicken (& boiled egg) chunks, the fluffy kulcha – is perfect in every way. The gravy has got quite a punch, not because of the chili, but the khada masalas it has been made with. Served in kulhads, this one’s a must try! It was very interesting to see a malabar parantha turned into a pizza – well almost! Loaded Open Paratha – chicken ( 229) & paneer ( 209) is an excellent take on pizza – the creamy makhani gravy and oozles of cheese will make you want to devour it. Kadhai Chicken Sandwich ( 169) is also a good choice if you are up for a quick snack. The filling is delectable, sandwiched within soft breads.

Steaming hot jalebis make for an excellent dessert with rains outside. Kulhad Jalebi is on the menu – taking care of the sweet cravings. Thin, crisp jalebis, served in a kulhad complete your meal.

And last but not the least, the USP of the restaurant – chai. We tried a new variety this time, Shahi Chai, which is an addition in the monsoon special menu. Have it as a tea, or as a dessert, or make it your companion in solitude. Thick (quite) because it is made of condensed milk, served garnished with nuts, this one’s to be had with a spoon! Quirky, isn’t it?
The monsoon specials at Chaayos are an excellent addition to the menu. While we really hope they continue serving these till the end of time, go try them as soon as you can, for they are not to be missed!
