Review – Goan Food Festival, Peninsular Kitchen

A trip to Goa every year is a must – we have been doing this for 4 years now – and the aura of the place is such that it never ceases to amuse. Full of variations, the lifestyle and food over the length and breadth of Goa is something we can’t get enough of. Each trip is different for us – be it North Goa vs. South Goa or Street Food vs. Fine Dines, we explore everything that is option.

Peninsular Kitchen, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, is hosting a Goan Food Festival to celebrate the spirit of Goa. We got a first hand experience of the same, and we just loved it – authentic to the core, this is one festival you shouldn’t miss.

The ambiance is replete with Goan music and the servers’ uniforms (& hats). The menu has items from all parts of Goa and provides good options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Prawn Rissoles, Butter Pepper Garlic Prawns, Golden Fried Prawns – order anything and you will not regret it. The bechamel sauce of the Prawn Rissoles is lovely, and the deep fried pastries don’t leave any oil behind. Butter Pepper Garlic Prawns are at their very best. Golden Fried Prawns are the favorite – nothing beats a no-distraction dish when Prawns are concerned ūüôā

The cafreal items are hot, so order if you can handle the heat – everyone seemed to prefer the Tandoori Vegetable Cafreal over Chicken Cafreal. The Fish Fingers are good too.

If we don’t talk about the curries, we won’t be doing justice – Vindaloo (Pork/Mutton/Vegetable), Goan Fish Curry, Chicken Xacuti, Mushroom Caldin came to our table. The Vindaloo is a must try, we tried the Pork and loved it, but are pretty sure the others were equally delectable. The Goan Fish Curry is an excellent pair with the Coconut Peas Pulao, which packs amazing flavors. Pair the vindaloo with appams, malabar parantha or neer dosa, you will love it equally.
