We are yet to hear from a person who hates Goa! Goa for most of us means glistening beaches, idle afternoons, heady evenings and exotic food. The feeling resonates with Mr. AD Singh’s vision of Lady Baga.
Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. — Ralph Waldo Emerson
The man behind various concept restaurants, has now conceptualized a Goa themed hippy place right at the heart of Delhi. Taking the cue from the famous Goa beach, the restaurant has been named – Lady Baga. The interiors are fun and vibrant, quirky and ‘beachy’ with shacks and hammocks, just like you would find in Goa. Spread over two floors and a lounging terrace, the seating capacity is plentiful.
The highlight is at the lower level though – to let you sink into the feeling of being in a beach, there is a huge projection of beach and waves – which, because of its serious hardware looks too real – the beach beds and sand complete the picture – bringing the beach experience to this part of the country. And then, there is a terrace with sun beds and hammocks giving a lovely view of CP.
Well ambiance ain’t the only thing Goan here – the music (we hear live bands will be playing here) is Goan, the food and the beverage menu has been curated keeping the vision and the theme in mind – there is an essence of Goa in everything – so much so – there is a Bloody Mary with Chorizo infused Vodka on the menu as well 🙂
At the preview of the restaurant, we tried a couple of things from the food menu and some of the Goa inspired beverages and from the looks (& taste) of it, it looks Lady Baga is going to be one of the few restaurants in Delhi-NCR for Goan food you can look forward to. The Prawn Curry was the most loved items of all. Whole Lotta Rosie is an interesting one – omelette topped with chicken curry served with pav – this one’s a dish you can eat at all times of the day. Do try the Light My Fire, chicken chunks in Goan spices provides everything that you expect. Goan Chorizo Pulao is something that you must have here. The vegetarian options take a back foot, as expected – we will have to go back to try the vegetarian fare of the restaurant.
Drinks are quirky to say the least – Acid Test is version of Tequila shots that is fancier. We don’t really appreciate Bloody Mary, but the one here is made with Chorizo Infused Vodka, and is definitely worth trying. The Istanbuli Chai is a good drink to sip on once you have finished your feast here.
We are sure there is nothing like Lady Baga in Delhi NCR as far the ambiance is concerned. With the kind of experience Olive Group has, we are pretty sure they will achieve the same with food. We can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Keep watching this space for more.
