ChaoBella, the dual cuisine restaurant (yes, it specializes in Italian and Chinese cuisine, hence the name) never fails to impress with its splendor & the food is an icing on the cake every time – read our experience at the Chinese New Year Festival. With its delectable menu covering Italian and Chinese cuisines, this grand restaurant at Crowne Plaza Today, Okhla, is now hosting a Mediterranean Food Festival to celebrate the transition of the seasons.
A soup person or not, you must try the Yia Yia’s Avgolemono (500). Literally translated it means grand mother’s egg-lemon sauce – a thick soup made with egg, lemon juice and broth that has it’s origins in the family histories. From the Pizza section we tried the Norcina ( 650) – named after the town of Norcia, Italy, famous for its cured meats and cheese. Loaded with buffalo mozzarella. chicken sausages, mushroom and tomato – the wood fired thin crust pizza is delectable, although the tomatoes could have been avoided.

From the Pasta section it was Seafood Spaghetti with Tomato – a subtly flavored dish loaded with seafood and cherry tomatoes. What we loved was the flavor was very subtle and it allowed the seafood to impart its own characteristics to the dish.
From the Main Course – we tried the Samkeh Harra which is pan seared white fish with saffron, garlic, lemon and paprika sauce and served with sauteed vegetables (asparagus, baby carrots & broccoli) – flaky fish and a very well balanced sauce, this is a must try at the festival; & Cornfed Chicken Breast – served with peppers, asparagus & the star of the dish – star anise jus – flavorful jus of the fragrant spice, complementing the dish totally. Grecian Tenderloin & Margaret Keftedes (meatballs in spicy tomato gravy) are the other options, that we didn’t try.

Pears & Almond Tart (350) & Blueberry Cheese Cake ( 350) are the desserts on the special menu and we enjoyed both of them, although the tart was a clear winner.
The Mediterranean Food Festival at ChaoBella is on from March 1 to March 20 for dinner only. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the cuisine given the weather in Delhi.
