Last night we didn’t feel like cooking food at home, but at the same time didn’t want to eat the typical rich & oily food of restaurant. Based on a friend’s strong recommendation we headed over to go site Prasadam, a pure vegetarian outlet located in Laxmi Nagar. They claim to serve food with quality & cleanliness at par with your mom made home cooked food – and boy were we floored with their palatable food!
Prasadam (Prasada/Prasad) literally translates to a gracious gift; in more practical terms, denotes anything that is offered to a deity to get the blessings and then is consumed by followers which is a way of getting blessings from the deity. Just as the offerings to god are made with love, care and emotions, the food at Prasadam is simple yet delicious.
We got to try their rasam which was served with papads – hot, tangy & flavorful and their special buttermilk, which is made in the Kerala style with curry patta.
From the starter section we ordered their Bag of Peppy Paneer which was flavored paneer stuffed inside pockets of grilled capsicum and potato – high on flavors and a quirky presentation. This was followed by their most selling item on the menu – Mini Prasadam Thali – best example of simple, soul food – 4 chapattis, 2 vegetables, dal, rice, raita, sweet & papad.
Based on the recommendation of the owner, we went for Paneer Lababdar, Dal Makhani & Laccha Paratha. None of the dishes were like the typical dishes of restaurant, but were light, easy on the stomach while packing all the wonderful flavors in it. They claim their laccha paratha is whole wheat, and they don’t use any maida or tandoor, just to keep in line with their home cooking theme.
They have a winner dish in their Masala Dosa which was crispy and flavorful, served along with a delectable sambhar and fantastic coconut chutney.
The owner of the place – a wonderful lady Ms. Suman, is very involved and pays special care to each and every guest – interacting with them like they are known for ages and building personal repertoire with every one of them.
Head over to Prasadam on Vikas Marg, Laxmi Nagar if you’re really want to enjoy a wonderful home like meal and leave the place with a smile.
