Olive Bistro, from the house of Mr. AD Singh, the man behind Olive Group, is a restaurant we love to the core. The al-fresco dining area provides amazing views of the Cyber Hub amphitheater, and we could never forget our first visit to Olive Bistro, watching Ind Vs Pak match screened on the ultra large screen, enjoying a Sunday brunch – we were there for 4 hours that day and there was not a dull moment, with the food or the service.
A special mention to Olive Bistro’s service – it’s top notch – a benchmark we use to decide the service levels for other restaurants. Never ever, over our 6 visits, we have had to look out for a server – they are always around, when we needed them. Cutlery/plate change after each course (actually, dish), water refills and taking feedback about the food and giving suggestions to order – everything is impeccable.
We have always appreciated the finesse of the chef(s) at Olive Bistro. The dishes are par excellence both in taste and presentation. A thoughtful addition to the menu, adapting to the changing weather, is the Sizzler Menu. With choices featuring Lamb Shank in Red Wine Lamb Jus & Mixed Seafood (Jumbo Prawns, Pomfret, Kalamari) the menu is curated to present the sizzlers with the best of flavors, without any adjuncts. Although we were here to try the new sizzler menu, Jr. Sous Chef Sanju Joshi insisted on trying some new items from the menu and we happily acceded – only to be extremely proud of our decision later 🙂
The amuse bouche – pickled vegetables, feta cheese, candied walnut with piccalilli sauce – set the stage for the things coming our way. Do you see the smile on the plate? We had a similar one on our faces! Caprese Roulade has thinly sliced mozzarella cheese stuffed with pesto, tomato, basil in roulade style – served with a harissa sauce. We loved how the sauce complimented the otherwise simple flavors of the dish. Catch Me If You Can is one of the most beautiful dishes we have seen. The rawas fish fillet is grilled perfectly, and together with the confit potato and green pea puree, chimichurri salsa makes a perfect dish. The egg net is there for the crunch.

Polenta Dance brings to you corn cake with ratatouille vegetables, basil pesto, tomato fondue and fried leeks – the cheese on the top is icing on the cake – the corn cake balances the rest of the dish in flavors and makes it a dish worth ordering again and again. Not big fans of risotto, we seemed to love the Wild Musroom Risotto served with thyme parmesan cracker – for we finished it – not even a shred of cheese on the plate 😉

Well finally it was time for our agenda of the day and we chose the Mix Seafood Platter Sizzler for one reason only – the variety of meat it offers – jumbo prawns, fish fillet & calamari. We loved the fact that the accessories (rice, curry) were missing; the sizzler was served with grilled vegetables only. Lemon Caper Sauce is the flavor and together with the meat’s own juice, it creates a flavor like nothing else. Speaking to the Manager about how the meat(s) is cooked, we so wanted to try the Lamb Shank in Red Wine Lamb Jus, but unfortunately we had to let it go for the lack of appetite. There’s always a next time though!
