When fashion meets food, The Runway Project by Pizza Express happens!
As the name suggests – The Runway Project, is a couture bar & kitchen by Pizza Express. Recently launched at Select City Walk, Saket; this place is runway ready in its decor. Fashionable lighting and swanky settings make this place fashion forward. The whole idea being, bringing fashion and food together with bespoke food and drinks. The ambience of the place makes the vibe surreal.
The food menu, curated by Chef Vicky Ratnani, is interesting to read through – full of jargons from the fashion world. The dishes are named keeping the theme intact – Orange is the new Black, Wardrobe Malfunction, Fhanel to name a few. Food is European with lots of options in the Pizza menu. There are also some very interesting salads and small plates to choose from. The description of the dishes comes in very handy.
We generally skip the Salad menu, but here the items read so interesting that we ordered one. A tough choice amongst Orange is the new Black (tuna), Wardrobe Malfunction (grilled chicken) & The Shredder – we went with the all veg. option of The Shredder, only to enjoy it fully. The simplicity of the dish along with the taste that it packs, just amazes you.
Small Plates cover the major portion in the menu and rightly so – a tough choice to decide what to order, we stuck to Cigar Club & Wired Pork Chops. Stuffed with cottage cheese and marinated roasted sweet peppers, the filo cigars, served with spiced mayonnaise and balsamic glaze, make Cigar Club a must have dish here. You get double espresso, barbecue braised pork chops with root vegetable hash as part of the second dish, Wired Pork Chops. Cooked perfectly – to a medium, the meat is slightly pink in the middle – cooked just enough to retain the moisture, texture and taste of the pork.

While Sandwiches and Burgers are servers only between 12 PM and 6 PM, the Pizza and Pasta section of the menu compensates in better ways! There is a good variety – so be prepared to be spoilt for choice. We zeroed in on Calabrese with Chicken – this no frills pizza is loaded with cheese, rocket leaves and grilled chicken with a thin crust. Our next main was Chicken Genovese – linguine tossed in pesto, roasted garlic and pine nuts. Served with a garlic bread, this was finger licking good.

A selected dessert menu ensures that each item is a gem – we tried the Coco – the white beauty. Favours of coconut, passion fruit and white chocolate, with crunchy pearls – this one’s a masterpiece on the plate as well as on the palate.

Though the place doesn’t have the liquor license yet, the mocktails give an idea of what’s coming. Our orders of Spring Collection, La Rouge & Amore didn’t disappoint a bit. Excelling in both looks and taste, the mocktails are pre-cursor to what they will do with cocktails and we can’t wait to go back at that time. Our personal favorite – The Spring Collection was a blend of lychee and pineapple – both retaining the individuality at the same time as doing their bit to make the mocktail great.
From the house of Pizza Express, this place takes dining to a new level. With an excellent menu & glamorous ambiance The Runway Project by Pizza Express is all set to woo it’s clientele.
