There is something beautiful about the winters – it’s the time for good food and warmth. The Park New Delhi always come up with their seasonal menus and we had the privilege to enjoy a weekend afternoon with a perfect lunch. Chef Abhishek Basu and his team have come up with a new seasonal menu reminiscent of ‘Farm to Table’ concept; rest assured the food served is as fresh and as flavorful as it should be.
This time, the Winter Menu has some earthly essences like the usage of ‘Timur Pepper’ in the Boti Masala, a ‘Kheech’ made up of barley, a chutney made from ‘Ggongura Flowers’. Gahat ki Dal and Ragi Rotis in the main course not only give a rustic taste to your food but also make you reminiscence a thousand memories.
You can order a Chef’s Tasting Menu which comes at1500++ and get a 5 course set menu, which keeps changing regularly; or order from the a-la-carte menu, which leaves the choice to you. The Chef’s Tasting Menu is recommended – you get to try a lot of items from the menu, and sometimes some specials thrown in by the Chef.
Fire, The Park New Delhi has a great collection of wines. Ask for pairing.
Pick any salad from the menu that has burrata ! You shouldn’t, ever, miss that salad – for this is the burrata (flown in from Bangalore) that will leave for yearning for more. The home made silky tofu, home pickled portobello mushroom, papaya relish in Marinated Mushroom Salad make a wonderful combination; sun dried tomatoes & the slightly peppery nasturtium leaves provide the kick the salad needs. Wild Mushroom flavored Chicken consomme – Murg Khumb Ki Chai – is served with a hint of mushroom flavored truffle oil. The tantalizing aroma hits you as it’s poured to the mug – it’s better to sip it from the mug, than using the spoon!

The starter platter for you is decided by the chef, and is a selection of items from the menu. We got a platter of Mahabaleshwaar Corn Pattice, Murg Neza Kebab & Kasundi Fish Tikka, which was a medley of flavors. The melt in the mouth Murg Neza Kebab – with subtle flavors of fennel and ghee, served with a tangy Roselle (Gongura Fruit) Chutney was the favorite.

Tasting portions of Kheech – a Rajasthani preparation of barley, Timur Pepper Boti Masala with Beans Foogath and Fire’s Signature Tawa Chicken Masala along with Joshimath Black Smoked Dal accompanied by Ragi Atta Fulka & Makki aur Methi Ki Roti was our platter for mains, again decided by the Chef. The attraction was the Joshimath Black Smoked Dal (gahat-ki-dal) – not available commonly, this one packs simple flavors. Boti Masala is flavored by Timur Pepper, prominent in Nepal and known to have medicinal qualities. The thick curry of the boti masala is best accompanied by a ragi roti.

To end the meal on a sweet note, there is the Dessert Platter, the choice of which remains with the kitchen, but all your preferences will be taken care of, rest assured. We got a Sugar Free Chamomile Custard with Popped Chaulai Lavash, Pistachio Cream – sugarfree, this one’s got the subtle flavor of Chamomile and is perfect for diabetics as well; Dodha Fudge, Beetroot Gel, Gajar Halwa is a innovative combination and presents two of the most popular sweets in one; Udupi Coffee and Chocolate Lava Cake, Vanilla Bean Gelato – quite strong flavor of the coffee, so you will like it if you savor strong coffee, the vanilla bean gelato helps compliment the flavor a bit!
